Opened in 1977, Mackintosh Academy was the first private school in Colorado to recognize the unique needs of gifted children. With the benefit of over thirty years of operation, the school continues to set new standards. Our holistic, well-rounded educational program focuses on the mind and the heart and nurtures the social, emotional, physical, and creative needs of gifted children, as well as academic ones. Our IB World School perspective encourages children to think outside of their personal world, to think about the world outside of school, and to be meaningful, socially responsible contributors within that world.
We have two campuses, one in Littleton and one in Boulder. We invite you to visit either campus to see if Mackintosh is the environment for your child.
With a student body of approximately 130 students Pre-K through 8th grade, Mackintosh Academy blends the rigors of a challenging academic program with a nurturing environment that promotes inquiry-based learning and a respect for individual intellects, hearts, minds, and spirits. Our classroom communities reflect a healthy exchange and tolerance of ideas in a respectful climate. We want to give our children opportunities to see the world through their own experiences and through the eyes of others. We want our children to learn about those who have come before them and discover ways each of them can contribute to the human story in their lifetime. We value cultural diversity, global studies, and we acknowledge interdependence as an essential aspect of the global community in which our children live, and will one day contribute their gifts in profound, passionate, and meaningful ways to create a better, more peaceful world.
We combine the strengths of experiential learning, measurement, structure, and accountability. Mackintosh students thrive in an environment which encourages them to learn at their own pace while participating in a collaborative and joyful educational community.
